Edit and Share Images on Your Chromebook

Edit and share images

Use the built-in image editor on your Chromebook to easily touch up photos and other images you've saved. Share your favorite images with family and friends, directly from the editor.

Open the image editor

  1. Click on the apps list icon apps list button and select Files to open the Files app.
  2. Select the image you'd like to edit.
  3. Click Open at the bottom of the screen.

To close the editor, just click x in the top-right corner of the screen.

 
From the image editor, you can take the following actions:
  • Rename: Click on the file name to quickly rename the image. Press Enter to save your changes.
  • Mosaic view: When viewing images from Google Drive in the Files app, click the mosaic icon to view your images in a tiled mosaic with large thumbnails. Use the arrow keys to view your images. (Note: The mosaic currently does not work for Downloads.)
  • Slide view: Click the slide icon to view your images one at a time on the screen. Use the arrow keys to view your images.
  • Slideshow: Click the triangle to view your images in slideshow mode. Use the left and right arrow keys to manually view your images. Press Esc to exit the slideshow or press any key to resume viewing the slideshow automatically.
  • Delete: Click the trash icon to delete an image.
  • Edit: Click the pencil to see available editing tools at the bottom of the screen. Once you're done with your edits, press Enterto save your edits. If you don't want to save your edit and want to go back to viewing mode instead, press Esc.
